Production
In August 2016, a sequel to 2016 animated film The Angry Birds Movie was announced. It would be directed by Thurop Van Orman and co-directed by John Rice. It would be produced by John Cohen and written by Peter Ackerman. The animation would be provided again by Sony Pictures Imageworks, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation.
In April 2018, the majority of the voice cast, new and returning, was announced.
